About the company

CAPS (Complete Air and Power Solutions) Australia was founded in 1980 by Bob McIntyre in Perth as the sole Australian distributor for Ingersoll-Rand compressors, and grew into Australia’s largest independent compressed air and power generation provider before joining the Ingersoll Rand group in 2024.

Role & Responsibilities

This role was based at the KL, Malaysia office, supplying, installing, and maintaining compression and generation equipment for clients across Australia and beyond. Started as Project Engineer, promoted to Project Manager in 2013, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

• Mechanical and electrical system design for compressed air systems (centrifugal and rotary) and air blowers for mining aeration, complying with API, AS, and ASME standards.
• Engineered solutions to meet customer needs and managed the technical aspects of projects.
• Managed production of diagrams, drawings, and technical/quality control documentation to satisfy client data supply requirements.
• Managed technical and contract variations, witness tests, and completion test reports with relevant quality control documentation.
• Managed commercial and contractual commitments, flagging unviable or unachievable contract requirements to management.
• Liaised across departments to assist with tender preparation, equipment selection, and technical advice.
• Ensured safety principles and Australian standards were followed throughout design, production, and testing.
• Clients included Lycopodium Minerals, Leighton Contractors, Enerflex, Anaeco, Bechtel, CB&I, Phu Bia Mining, Panaust, Worley Parsons, and Woodside.

Key project: delivered a Low-Pressure Blower system for the Lycopodium Minerals mining station in Ghana (AUD 1.5M project value).
