About the company

Etiqa was formed in 2007 from the merger of Maybank’s insurance and takaful units with Malaysia National Insurance, becoming one of Malaysia’s leading composite insurers. At the time of this role it operated under Maybank Ageas Holdings, a joint venture between Maybank and Belgian insurer Ageas (Maybank has since acquired full ownership).

Role & Responsibilities

Oversaw the full implementation of the IFRS 17 project, a major new reporting standard for insurance companies, managing all phases from requirements gathering through deployment and BAU transition.

• Managed complete SDLC delivery including requirements gathering, design & development, testing, deployment, and post-implementation handover to maintenance teams.
• Drove IT process improvements and QA initiatives in collaboration with Actuarial, Finance, and IT leadership to define business requirements and enhance application systems.
• Provided strategic guidance on IT governance, including planning, risk evaluation, budgeting, feasibility studies, and SDLC oversight.
• Managed cross-functional teams across Malaysia and Singapore, coordinating business analysts and IT teams during project delivery, then maintenance and support staff in BAU.
